Paul joined Grail Partners in 2009 as a Senior Advisory Partner. His specialties are financial technology, capital markets risk, trading and operations, alternative asset management and the virtualization of business infrastructures through the use of technology.
Paul has spent 14 years in the financial services industry after a successful 15 year career as a technology executive. In March 2005, Paul founded Business Technology Associates LLC ("BTA"), a boutique strategic advisory and implementation services firm with clients among hedge funds, traditional asset managers, broker dealers, prop trading groups and a fintech service providers. During the recent credit crisis, Paul assumed the role of interim COO at Phoenix Partners, a global CDS interdealer broker client of BTA. Earlier experience includes roles as Chief Business Technology Officer and member of the Risk and Operating Committees of Azimuth Alternatives, Head of Operations/Technology at Zurich Global Asset, member of the Management Committee of Zurich Scudder and Managing Director at Morgan Stanley, where he filled a number of global technology and operations roles, including Chair of the Institutional Securities IT Operating Committee and advisor to the Morgan Stanley Venture Capital group.
Early in his career, Paul was an adjunct professor at Boston University before enrolling in Business School. He has MS and PhD degrees from MIT, with an emphasis on systems, control and applied math, and Physics and Engineering degrees from the École Normale Supérieure (St Cloud) and ENST (Paris - France) respectively.
